Adult Contact Rugby
The adult team trains weekly, Tuesday evenings from 7.30 - 9pm at the Macau Stadium, Taipa.
All players are welcome to join. We have approximately 150 players split across contact and Touch rugby. We do not currently have a women’s team, however we do have mixed teams as well as men’s.
The men’s contact team plays friendly matches with Hong Kong and China teams throughout the season and attends beach rugby festivals.
Adult Touch Rugby
There is a large and growing number of players, both male and female, playing Touch Rugby in Macau. Training is every Saturday (September to June) 1100-1230, at TIS field.
The Club host three Touch competitions during the season - Lusofonia; CoTai Cup and the Greater Bay Area championship - that sees local, Hong Kong and China teams compete in Macau. In addition, Macau sends Touch teams to tournaments in China.
Children and Youth Rugby
U6-U18
The Macau Bats have 8 age group teams that train weekly and compete in Hong Kong throughout the season.
From U6 to U9 the game is non-contact and focussed on developing basic athleticism and team working. Drills and games are the fundamental methods used to introduce the skills and rules of rugby with the emphasis on enjoyment, safety and player development.
Contact rugby starts at U9 and progresses through to U12 prior to transitioning to youth rugby (U13-U18).
The sport is open to boys and girls. Training is every Saturday, 9am-11am, held at either the TIS Field, Taipa or Macau Stadium, Taipa. Please register your son/ daughter via the QR link below and we will get you going.

Coaching
All our coaches are volunteers but we are always on the lookout for additional coaches. If you are interested in joining the team behind the teams, please let us know.
What Age Group?
Age groups are determined by year of birth. The table below shows the age range for season 2026/ 27 which will commence August 2026. Short-term adjustment to the team your child plays for may occur depending on size and skill level. This will be done in conjunction with player, parent and coach.
Festivals and Competitions
Typically Macau Bats will enter U6-U11 in six rugby festivals in Hong Kong across the season. In addition, Macau will host a festival in April for Hong Kong and China teams to visit.
U12 will compete in the Richard Hawkes Cup, typically 5 legs in Hong Kong across the season.
U13-18 players will play in the HK Youth league (15s and 7s). On occasion, we will join with neighbouring HK teams to form a league team.
